How to Show Service Areas Without Misleading People

List the towns you actually serve. Don't list a home address if you go to the customer.

A customer wants to know one thing: do you come to where I am? Make the answer obvious.

What to put on the page

  • The towns or counties you regularly serve, by name
  • If there is a limit (like a driving radius), say so
  • If you charge extra for longer drives, say that too

What not to do

  • Don't list cities you've never been to. If someone calls from a city on your list and you say you don't actually go there, you've wasted their time and yours.
  • Don't list your home address as your business address if customers never come to your home. Google Business Profile has a "service area" option for businesses that go to the customer.
  • Don't write "serving the greater metro area" without saying which metro. Be specific.
  • Don't create separate pages for cities you don't serve just for search rankings. If a customer in that city calls and you say no, the page was dishonest.

Where it should appear

  • The contact page
  • The footer (a short version)
  • Your Google Business Profile

Keep it current

If you stop serving an area, take it off the list. If you start covering somewhere new, add it. A wrong service area is worse than none.
