People check hours before they call. If they can't find yours, they'll call someone whose hours they can see.
Where hours should appear
- Contact page — near the phone number, not buried at the bottom
- Google Business Profile — this is what shows up in Maps
- Both places must match. If your site says 8–6 and Google says 9–5, a customer doesn't know which is true.
What to write
- Day-by-day hours:
Mon–Fri 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- If Saturday is by appointment, say "Saturday: By appointment"
- If Sunday is closed, say "Sunday: Closed"
- If you take emergency calls after hours, say when and how
Common mistakes
- "Call for hours" — if someone is deciding whether to call you, making them call just to find out your hours is one step too many.
- Holiday hours never updated. If your hours change for holidays, update them or remove the holiday notice once it passes.
- Hours on the homepage but not the contact page. Someone who lands on the contact page from Google may never see the homepage.
How to keep them current
Check your website hours and Google Business Profile hours on the first of each month. Two minutes, once a month. If they don't match, fix whichever one is wrong.
