The People Behind the Work

We didn't start from a business school whiteboard. We started from Central Texas, a kitchen table, and about 120 years of building things between us.

Richard (Rick) Aikman

Richard (Rick) Aikman

Rick built his first business with his hands before most people had heard the word startup. He spent decades doing the kind of work that doesn't come with a badge or a title — solving problems, keeping things moving, figuring it out. He was riding motorcycles before most of us were born. Fifty-plus years on the road will teach you something no conference ever will: the road doesn't care about your pitch deck. It only cares whether you actually showed up.

Today, Rick lives with CIDP — a chronic neurological condition that has changed how he moves but not what he builds. He leads research, AI strategy, visual creation, and the kind of slow methodical thinking that holds a whole project together. He is the reason our products work the way they do.

He designed this business the way a craftsman would: built to last, built to be useful, built from the middle of real work. He built it because he needed it. That's reason enough.

Operations · Bookkeeping · Administration

Margaret (Maggie) Weaver

Maggie came into this story in 2021 and has been the operational spine of it ever since. She is the bookkeeper, the proofer, the tester — the one who catches the thing you missed at 11 PM. She has a quiet, steady competence that makes everything around her more reliable. She is not loud about what she does. The work speaks.

Office management, documents, spreadsheets, administration — forty years of that kind of experience does not look glamorous on a homepage, but you feel it in every clean invoice, every correct form, every project that actually finished. Maggie keeps the lights on — literally and figuratively.

Engineer · Strategist · Final Decision Maker

David Aikman

Rick's older brother David is where this all started. Not the logo, not the name — the idea itself. The belief that regular working people deserve a professional starting point, and that the right tools could deliver one. He has spent a lifetime thinking like an engineer: find the real problem, understand it completely, then build something that holds. He has faced the kind of hard miles that would have stopped most people. He kept going.

David is the strategic backbone behind how this business thinks — a key architect of our AI strategy and the voice that cuts through the noise when the room gets complicated. That does not come from luck. It comes from decades of showing up anyway.

Logistics · Support · Maintenance

Sherry Aikman

Sherry is David's partner in every sense: in life, in this business, and in the day-to-day logistics that keep everything moving. Maintenance, transportation, support — the behind-the-scenes work that makes the visible work possible. She does it without fanfare.

She is exactly the kind of person a small family business cannot function without.

Why We Do This

We Built the Thing We Needed

Between the four of us, we have navigated chronic illness, vision loss, decades of hard work, and more than a few screens that were not designed for people like us. That's the point.

The tools, the platforms, the internet itself — most of it was built for people who are young, healthy, technically fluent, and have a lot of time. We are none of those things. And we found our way anyway.

The Footprint exists because we know what it takes to build something from where most people actually are — not from ideal circumstances. We know what it feels like to need a professional starting point and not know where to begin. We know what it is like to want to make your mark on something — a business, a trade, a craft — and hit a wall of tech and jargon and monthly fees that nobody explained.

So we built the thing we needed.

Names. Words. Visuals. A clean place to start.
One price. No monthly anything.

Two brothers. Two spouses. One shared mission. Operated in Leon County, Texas.
